Well, for the most part, we dodged the high rain chances and were able to
finish the tournament at Belle Terre with only a slight rain delay. I want
to thank everyone who participated in the Belle Terre tournament. It was
nice to have 41 players in the field. I hope everyone will continue to
participate in the monthly tournaments and that we can get even more
players out there.
Welcome to Ernie Makepeace, who has joined St. John Golf Club. We
hope to see you at our events often Ernie.

The Handicap Chairman's (Fred Walker's) handicap better go down like The
Dow after the net 60 he posted at Belle Terre. An internal investigation
is being started.
If anyone has an old baseball bat that they can donate to St. John Golf Club
it will be greatly appreciated, as Mike Flanagan has requested that for the
next tournament we just take his money and then beat him, so he won't have
to waste his time going out on the golf course. If we can get the bat
donated, it will save us the cost of having to go out and buy one.
Gary Morris did not play in this month's tournament, allowing someone else
to win the 50/50. Thanks Gary!
50/50 Winners: 1st Place ($65) Todd Bologna
2nd Place ($40) Kevin Schellhaas
Closest-to-the-hole prize ($25) Kevin Schellhaas (and I missed the putt!)
The St. John Golf Club Board of Governors has decided to revert back to the
USGA handicapping system. This should eliminate the wild swings in handicaps
which have been occurring from tournament to tournament, and stabilize players
handicaps. Your handicap may be significantly different at the next tournament,
but should stabilize after that.
The next tournament is scheduled for February 7, 2009. We are "Going Back to
Our Roots" and playing the North Course at City Park. The tournament format
will be a "Dogfight" in which players will have a point quota based on their
handicaps and receive points according to the scores they make on each hole.
A complete list of the rules will be sent prior to the tournament. Also, the
tournament at City Park will not be a shotgun start, so groups will be assigned
tee times, which will be posted as we get closer to the tournament date.
Hope to see you all soon.
